Embark on a hassle-free journey as you take to the skies on a scenic flight to the Selous Game Reserve. Arriving at the reserve by air allows you to maximize your time in the wilderness and ensures a smooth and seamless transition into your safari adventure.

The Selous Game Reserve is one of Africa’s largest and most spectacular wildlife sanctuaries, located in southern Tanzania. Selous covers an enormous area of approximately 50,000 square kilometers (19,000 square miles). It was established in 1922 and was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982 due to its exceptional biodiversity and ecological importance.

After an exciting first day in this vast protected eco system you will arrive in the Africa Safari Selous Lodge, where you will stay in a 49m² Banda Bungalow that provides a tranquil and authentic African architecture.

Day 1:

An early transfer, a short flight, and you are in the middle of the African bush. You first day in the vast Selous Ecosystem starts with 2 activities: A Bushwalk guided by our bushman and Masai followed by an exciting boat Safari!

There is no better way to get close to nature than to stroll through it. Embark on an interesting Bushwalk with our local guides. They will surprise you with interesting stories about flora and fauna. Observe and you can learn a few secrets of the African bush.

After lunch break in the Africa Safari Selous Lodge you will move on to the next adventure: a boat Safari on the famous Rufiji River (the largest and longest river in Tanzania)! This is truly a completely new experience. Our captain will take you cruising on the river for about 1,5 hours. The river teems with wildlife; crocodiles, hippos and many birds living around the river.

Day 2:

After an early breakfast you embark on your full day game drive Safari! You will be accompanied by our knowledgeable and experienced guides who possess an intimate understanding of the reserve’s ecosystem. They will navigate the vast landscapes and take you to the prime wildlife viewing spots, ensuring an immersive and informative journey. Travel in custom-built 4×4 safari vehicles designed to provide comfort, excellent visibility, and stability over rugged terrain, guaranteeing an optimal game viewing experience.

Day 3:

After an early breakfast in the Africa Safari Selous Lodge, you return back to the air strip for your morning flight to Zanzibar Airport and the transfer back to your hotel.

Located in magical Southern Tanzania, Africa Safari Selous is a spacious Lodge located close to the entrance of the Selous Game Reserve with the famous Rufiji River (the largest and longest river in Tanzania) within walking distance. The Lodge offers a nice swimming pool with a sun terrace, lounge / bar, restaurant, reception, and an information desk for all your questions, excursions, or last-minute Safari extensions.

Nestled amidst the untamed wilderness of Tanzania, the lodge offers a captivating safari experience. Immerse yourself in the breathtaking beauty of Africa as you enjoy the comforts of the unique Banda Bungalows and explore the wonders of the surrounding nature. Much of the original vegetation has been retained, designed to harmonize with the natural surroundings. The restaurant overlooks a waterhole that often attracts birds and other wildlife!

You will stay in a 49m² Banda Bungalow that provides a tranquil sanctuary where you can unwind and recharge after exhilarating safari adventures, with one king-size bed and one single bed. An extra single bed can be added (on request). In the bathroom you can find a washbasin, shower and toilet. Enjoy sitting outside on the terrace where you can relax, read a book or look at your safari photos. The outside construction is traditional, but inside you will find all the comforts with enough storage space. The swimming pool is within walking distance.
