2 Days Safari | Tarangire & Manyara National Park

Tanzania Northern Circuit

The best of Safari in only 2 days’ time! You’ll be visiting Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Park. Enjoy the beautiful landscape and great view of the animals as you do game drives around the parks! Tarangire is famous for its large numbers of elephants, baobab trees and tree climbing African Pythons.

Lake Manyara National Park is located at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment and is known for its stunning beauty. You will encounter many big mammals such as buffalo, elephant, giraffe, hippo and others. The protected area lies picturesquely as a narrow strip of shore between the western slope of the approximately 800-metre-high rift valley steep face and the soda-rich lake that lends the park its name.

Your accommodation will be the Africa Safari Lake Manyara Lodge, where you overnight in a furnished comfort safari tent with private bathroom. The Lodge borders Lake Manyara National Park, so expect a lot of zebras, monkeys and other animals roaming the area.

Day 1:

An early transfer from your beach hotel, a short flight from the Zanzibar Archipelago, and you are already in Arusha town, the ‘Safari capital’ of Tanzania. Your guide will take you to the Tarangire National Park for the first part of this trip, a classic full day game drive Safari! Tarangire National Park is a breathtaking and diverse wildlife sanctuary that is famous for its giant and extremly ancient (1000+ years) Baobab trees. Spanning approximately 2,850 square kilometers, this park is named after the Tarangire River, which flows through its heart and provides a vital water source for the animals that inhabit the area.

You will be accompanied by our knowledgeable and experienced driver guide. They will lead you to the best wildlife viewing spots with custom-built 4×4 safari vehicles designed to provide comfort, excellent visibility, and stability over rugged terrain, providing an ideal game viewing experience.

Day 2:

After breakfast you depart for Lake Manyara Safari Park. Nestling at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, you can expect to experience different habitats in a small area: the rocky Rift Valley escarpment, a green forest, acacia forests, the open grass savanna, swamps and of course the lake and its shore – truly an exotic environment. The park is renowned for its tree-climbing lions, a rare behavior seen in only a few places in Africa. These predators are known to rest high in the branches of acacia trees, providing a remarkable sight for any lucky visitor. Along with the lions, the park is also home to leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas.

After leaving the park you will drive back to Arusha for you return flight to Zanzibar.

Africa Safari Lake Manyara Lodge

Africa Safari Lake Manyara is located directly on the border of the Lake Manyara National Park. The lodge grounds are part of a Game Controlled Area (GCA) – expect to see a lot of animals staying permanently in the area. These include zebras, wilderbeests, different types of monkeys and of course many bird species. The gardens are dominated by large yellow bark acacias (also known as ‘fever trees’ or Vachellia xanthophloea) that provide shade and shelter for the cheeky vervet monkeys.

Neighbouring the large and comfortable bar / lounge there is a nice swimming pool with sun loungers and umbrellas. It offers truly magnificent views of Manyara lake and the surrounding area. Farther towards the lake you will find the restaurant with equally exciting views. For your own security, it is recommended not to walk alone during the night in the lodge premises. The staff will assign you a Maasai askari (watchman), just in case a bad tempered big cat decides to pay a visit.

You will stay in a Safari Comfort tent. These accommodations are spacious, and comfortable, having exterior canvas walls, a concrete floor and a permanent bathroom. Watch the zebras grazing from your very own private terrace, equipped with comfortable chairs. The spacious 60m² tent is furnished with a king-sized bed and a single bed. Another single bed can be added on request. You will find a comfortable seating area in the room as well as plenty of storage space to make you feel at home. The accommodation has a semi permanent bathroom with an European toilet, washbasin and walk-in shower.
